Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. If you go into this career, you will be expected to rehabilitate patients after cardiac or pulmonary surgery. Patients with cystic fibrosis, heart attacks, or pulmonary fibrosis could also benefit from a therapist specialized in this field. You will have to increase their endurance and independence, often by teaching them manual therapy techniques, like chest pounding for cystic fibrosis.

If you are preparing to go into this career, a strong knowledge of the heart and lungs is mandatory. You won’t be treating the persons heart attack, but instead, helping them recover from it and ensuring that it will not happen again. The salary for this specialty is a little higher than the rest at 115,000 dollars annually.

There is a 24% increase expected in the job outlook by the year 2018
